Add user accounts with signup, login, and role-based permissions

It creates signup and login. Role-based permissions restrict what users can see and edit based on their assigned role.

When to use it

You're building an internal team project tracker where only managers can edit project status while team members can only view.

Why it is worth it

This saves weeks of backend development and no external services or API keys are needed to set it up.

Before you start

  1. Build your app's main pages and data structure first

The prompt

Add user accounts to the project tracker. Include email and password signup, a login page, and forgot password recovery via email. Add 'Sign in with Google' as an alternative sign-in method. Require users to be logged in before accessing any data. Create three roles: admin, project lead, and team member. Admins can create projects and manage team members. Project leads can create projects and assign tasks to their team. Team members can only view projects assigned to them and mark their own tasks complete. Hide navigation items and menu options based on the user's role so they only see features they can use. Protect all data at the database level so a team member cannot access projects from other teams even if they try to guess a URL. Show each user their dashboard with only their assigned work after they log in.

Swap the three roles for your team structure and adjust permissions to match what different user types need to do.

What you get

Your app now has login with role-based restrictions so users only see and edit data they should access.
