Draft a data map of your app by asking chat where user data goes

Paste "List every place this app stores or sends user data, and who can access each one." into Lovable's chat, which reads your project without changing code. The answers are a starting point, not a finished security audit.

Lovable's chat mode can walk through your project and produce a first draft of a data map: which tables hold personal or sensitive data, which third-party services receive it, how authentication and access rules are set up, and whether anything is logged or stored longer than it needs to be. Lovable's own guide on compliance and your app, published October 21, suggests it as the place to start. Chat reads your project without changing any code.

The prompt to paste is: "List every place this app stores or sends user data, and who can access each one." The guide's list of paths to map is hosting, database, email provider, analytics, payment services and any AI features you add.

A follow-up prompt narrows the check to access: "Review our database access policies and flag any table that's readable by users who shouldn't see it." That targets a question the guide asks outright: can one customer read another customer's records, and are uploaded files exposed? The guide also suggests asking chat to compare what it finds against the criteria of a security audit framework (security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy) and point out likely gaps.

On privacy notices, the guide says a generated notice has to be checked against your actual setup. It also says that if you add a service that receives personal data, you should review whether your notice needs updating.

The limits are stated plainly. Lovable's certifications cover Lovable as a vendor, not the apps built on it, and the guide says an audit examines your organization's controls and processes, "not just your code". Policies, evidence and an independent auditor remain your job. Storage region is another gap: the guide notes that choosing an EU database region doesn't establish that every connected service processes data only in the EU, so transfers need their own check.

When chat surfaces something to fix, switch to Build and the context from your conversation carries over. Lovable adds that it is working on integrations with third-party systems and Lovable-built skills to do more of this inside the building workflow. The guide is general information, not legal advice.
